Include the full name, DC number, approximate camp dates, and the exact field or document sought. If the location history names Jackson CI rather than the camp, ask whether the satellite is rolled into the parent label for that record series.
Jackson Camp Parent Relationship
Jackson Work Camp is adjacent to Jackson Correctional Institution and listed as its satellite. This close relationship explains why an official record may identify the main institution even when a person or family remembers the camp. It also explains why returning to the main unit is not a new commitment or release. It is a placement change inside the same FDC custody system.
Graceville Work Camp is the other satellite named under Jackson CI. It is in Graceville and is not the same facility as the contractor-operated Graceville Correctional Facility. Jackson Camp Date Calculations
A work-camp placement does not create a separate release-date formula. FDC calculates the state prisoner’s sentence and tentative release date under the statewide framework. The public population page labels the projection “Current Release Date.” It may show a date, “PENDING REVIEW,” or “TO BE SET.” The value remains subject to lawful gain-time award or loss, sentence updates, detainers, and review.
For eligible offenses committed on or after October 1, 1995, Florida law permits incentive gain-time within stated limits but prevents release before 85 percent of the imposed sentence is served. Court credit for physical presentence confinement counts toward that floor. Historical offense dates and specified offenses can have different limits. Do not calculate a personal release date from a simple percentage or from the date someone arrived at Jackson Work Camp.

Current Status also needs exact reading. “Active” indicates active supervision. “Active Suspense” can mean temporary unavailability for direct supervision, including custody in another facility. “Absconder” is a distinct warrant-related status and not proof that the person completed supervision. Note: Ending a Jackson Work Camp placement, leaving FDC prison, and finishing supervision can occur on three different dates.
Jackson Camp Search Conflicts
A last-known camp reference can remain in an old letter after FDC has moved the person. A court docket can show the sentence while FDC shows placement and release. VINE can repeat an agency event later. These sources are not interchangeable. For the disputed state-custody moment, start with FDC and use the court entry to explain legal authority.
When data disagree, compare the DC number, date of birth, aliases, offense, sentence, detainers, and custody intervals. Keep projected dates, transfer dates, actual release dates, and supervision starts under separate labels. If an FDC field appears wrong, identify it and submit the supporting record for review. A correction by another agency will not automatically update the FDC offender network.
Check any detainer and its cancellation date. Another authority may take custody after FDC records the prison departure. In that case, describe the event as a release from Florida prison custody and continue with the named receiver. A final FDC date does not by itself establish freedom from every other authority.
That method avoids the central Jackson Work Camp error: treating the end of a satellite placement as the end of the state sentence.
